Nollywood actress and entrepreneur, Iyabo Ojo, has expressed deep emotional confidence in the success of her daughter Priscilla Ojo’s marriage, saying she has paid the price for her daughter’s future happiness.
Speaking at Priscilla’s baby shower held in Canada on Monday July 28, Iyabo declared that she had endured enough pain and sacrifice to ensure her daughter would not repeat her own marital struggles and goofs.
“Priscilla, your marriage will work. You will grow old with your husband because in God you have married right. If mine did not work, yours will work, for I have paid that sacrifice for yours to work,” she said amid tears and cheers from guests.
She urged fellow mothers not to be swayed by public judgment but to support their children unconditionally, even in the face of intense scrutiny.
“I will never deprive my children of their blessings, no matter the situation. It is my burden to carry.”
Iyabo also referenced her personal battles with generational and spiritual challenges, saying:
“There’s something called ancestral curses; for you to break it, you must stop it.”
Her emotional tribute comes just months after Priscilla’s extravagant wedding broke the internet with videos showing lavish spending, including United States Dollars and Naira being sprayed on the couple.
The showy ceremony triggered public criticism and caught the attention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which invited Iyabo for questioning.
She later confirmed the encounter, revealing that the EFCC confronted her with video evidence from the wedding and made her write a statement before she was released.
Despite the controversy, Iyabo Ojo remains resolute and proud of her daughter’s journey, expressing her unwavering belief that Priscilla’s marriage will stand the test of time, unlike her own which hit the rocks.
