The Federal Government has apologized to workers affected by the failure to receive their June 2025 salaries, blaming the delay on a “technical network glitch” at Zenith Bank Plc.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) confirmed that some federal workers, particularly those with Zenith Bank accounts, did not receive their salaries as scheduled.
”Upon investigation, it was discovered that the salary payments for employees across various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) were affected due to a technical network glitch during the processing of salaries at the bank,” the OAGF said.
The Office acknowledged the hardship caused by the delay, noting that it was aware of widespread complaints and frustration.
”We deeply regret the inconvenience this unfortunate incident has caused and wish to assure all affected employees that immediate steps have been taken to resolve the issue,” it said.
According to the statement signed by its Director of Press and Public Relations, Bawa Mokwa, the OAGF is working closely with service providers and stakeholders to reprocess the failed payments without further delay.
“We appeal to all affected staff of the Federal Public Service to remain calm and rest assured that no effort will be spared in ensuring everyone receives their rightful salaries,” the statement read.
He further stressed that “concrete steps have already been taken to isolate the problem and arrangements are underway to reprocess the failed payments in the shortest possible time.”
The OAGF reiterated its commitment to the welfare of federal employees and to upholding transparency and accountability in payroll operations. “The welfare of Federal Government employees remains a top priority of the Office,” it said.
The Office also thanked affected employees for their patience and understanding, pledging continuous engagement with stakeholders to improve service delivery.
“We remain fully committed to transparency, accountability, and efficiency in all payroll operations,” the statement added.
