Kano Govt Ramadan Feeding Programme  To Gulp N550m

Kano State government has earmarked N550 million to cover this year’s Ramadan feeding exercise.

The government disclosed this as it inaugurated the feeding programme to alleviate the plight of the less privileged.

The state’s acting governor Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, who conducted the exercise at the premises of Kano State Printing Press, enjoined the committee to be just in the discharge of its assignment.

Gawuna who stressed the importance of feeding the needy in Islam, especially in the Holy Month of Ramadan called on well to do to take part in view of its relevance.

Earlier, the commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, Hon Murtala Sule Garo said the government has provided N550 million  for the success of the feeding programme in the 140 centres across the eight  metropolitan local government areas.

The commissioner added that the food items provided to ensure smooth running of the exercise include bags of rice, beans, flour, millet, palm oil as well as groundnut oil.

Garo therefore reiterated the state government’s commitment to assist the less privileged and other vulnerable persons in the society.

On his part, the council chairman of Kano municipal local government Alhaji Faizu Alfindiki commended the effort of the state government and called on the members of the feeding committee to be fair and honest in the discharge of their assignment.
