Kebbi LG Commission To Spend N25.7m On Staff Training

The Kebbi Local Government Service Commission will spend N25.7million on the training and re-training of 1,560 local government members of staff to improve on productivity and ensure rapid development of the councils.

Its chairman, Alhaji Bello Dantani, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday, that the training was to reposition the service to face conventional challenges.

He said that some of the trainees would undergo short term courses in computer literacy so that they could apply the Information Communication Technology (ICT) knowledge to improve the public service.

Dantani said that others would be trained in local government administration in tertiary institutions as part of efforts to build the capacity of members of staff.

The chairman said that efforts would be geared towards making administration at the local government level ready to face the current trends of development.

According to him, 5,666 local government staff members have been promoted within one year in addition to improving staff welfare.

He advised members of staff in the commission to remain committed to their duties as well as eschew any conduct inimical to progress and development of their career as civil servants. (NAN)
