Former Big Brother Naija star and entrepreneur, Anita Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has urged young women not to restrict themselves to one relationship before marriage, advising them to “keep their options open.”
Speaking on The Podcast Network on YouTube, Tacha said women face different societal expectations compared to men and should therefore be more strategic in navigating love and relationships.
“You need three other boyfriends in your life. I’m not saying to sleep with all the boyfriends, but at least… you just never really know,” she said.
She further advised women to remain single until marriage and not let current relationships stop them from finding their life partners.
“Every girl should be single till they’re actually married. Don’t let your boyfriend stop you from meeting your husband,” she added.
The reality star argued that women do not enjoy the same freedom as men, stressing that this requires them to act differently.
“The kind of grace that the guys have is not the same kind of grace that we have. So we need to be able to move differently,” she said.
On the subject of life abroad, Tacha cautioned Nigerians against assuming that living overseas guarantees comfort and success. She noted that, in reality, life abroad can be more challenging than in Nigeria.
“As much as it’s hard here in Nigeria, it’s even harder abroad, honestly,” she said, adding that many people avoid returning home because they fear being mocked for “not making it.”
According to her, social media often hides the struggles of Nigerians overseas, which range from financial pressure to loneliness. Sharing her personal experience, she recalled losing two pieces of luggage in Paris, describing it as one of the difficulties she faced abroad.
“People go through great pressure to give an impression that really, really does not exist. It’s not this hard back here in Nigeria,” she said.
Tacha praised Nigeria’s communal support system, which she believes makes daily life easier.
“You can go to your junction and say, ‘Mama Ki, give me something of 7,000. By the end of the month, I’ll pay you.’ I feel like there’s a lot more to be happy and bright about over here in Nigeria than there in the UK,” she said.
She also urged Nigerians to channel their resilience and outspoken nature into changing the country’s global image.
“With how loud and rugged we are, we should use that to get what we want in the country. It took a long time for us to get here, and it will take a long time to change the notion the world has about Nigeria,” she said.
Tacha rose to prominence during the 2019 edition of Big Brother Naija: Pepper Dem, where she quickly became one of the most talked-about contestants.
Known for her bold personality and outspokenness, she built a strong fan base known as the “Titans.” Since leaving the reality show, she has established herself as an entrepreneur, influencer, and media personality, often making headlines for her candid opinions on social issues, lifestyle, and relationships.
