Members of the Kogi State House of Assembly on Tuesday impeached the Speaker, Abdullahi Bello, and 10 other principal officers.
The impeachment follows a running battle between the Speaker and some members, whom he had accused of plotting to remove him from office.
The Kogi state House of Assembly has been in disarray in the last few months over plan by some aggrieved members to remove the Speaker and other principal officers of the House, elombah.com reports.
It is not clear how many lawmakers were at Tuesday morning’s sitting as the House was not set to sit until Thursday.
The Minority Leader of the assembly, Yori Afolabi, had previously warned against the desperate attempt to remove the leadership of the House, noting that the executive arm of government was dangling N15 million to any lawmaker who consented to the plot.
Meanwhile, the lawmakers have elected Lawal Jimoh to replace Bello as Speaker.
