The Deputy Governor of Kogi, Mr Yomi Awoniyi on Wednesday in Lokoja said government would sue owners and occupants of any building used for criminal activities.
Awoniyi who made the announcement, said such a measure had become imperative due to the conversion of houses and commercial buildings as ammunition factories.
He said the state would not condone such criminal activities any longer.
“The state will not condone anybody caught to be using his or her house as shelter for the enemies of the society,” Awoniyi said.
He appealed to owners of buildings, who have deviated from the original approved purpose of their buildings, to report at the state Town Planning and Development Board for record an update.
The deputy governor said that the state government considered security as the responsibility of all.
Awoniyi called on the people to report suspicious misuse of buildings and premises to security agents or any government institution.
He called on property owners in the state to always ascertain the use of their buildings by tenants in other to stop any nefarious activity carried out on their property. (NAN)
