Mark, Ihedioha preach peace at Sallah

Senate President Senator David Mark and deputy Speaker, House of Representatives Hon. Emeka Ihedioha have urged Muslims to seize the opportunity provided by the end of the Ramadan fast to draw ever nearer to Almighty Allah and pursue peaceful co-existence in the country.

In a statement Abuja, Mark commended Muslims for their steadfastness and prayers especially during the fasting period for the sustenance of peace and unity in the country.

The statement was signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Paul Mumeh.

“The president of the senate for the umpteenth time called for harmonious relationship and mutual coexistence between and among different and ethnic groups in the country,” the statement said.

He quoted Mark as saying, “The Almighty God did not make mistake by putting different ethnics and religious groups together to form a one united nation call Nigeria, It is therefore incumbent on all of us to work towards the peace and unity that would engendered progress in the country.”

On his part, deputy Speaker Ihedioha
urged Muslims and indeed all religious faithful to eschew vices, and embrace virtues.” He called for prayers for peace and stability of the country, and emphasis on  qualities that unite the country.

A statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Oke Epia, the deputy Speaker urged Muslims to forgive one another and indeed fellow citizens in the spirit and celebration of the Ramadan fast.

He quoted Ihedioha as saying, “At this critical stage of national transformation, please continue to pray for peace, end to security challenges and for growth and development to be accelerated in Nigeria”.

Ihedioha urged “them to imbibe the teachings and practice of holy prophet Mohammed (S.A.W) by increasing their love and generosity to their fellow brothers and sisters,” the statement added.
