Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirant, Chief Dele Momodu, has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), declaring that he will not seek any elective office in 2027 but will instead devote his efforts to supporting like-minded politicians to transform Nigeria’s political landscape.
Chief Momodu was formally presented with his ADC membership card by the Edo State Chairman of the party, Hon. Odion Kennedy, at the party’s secretariat in Benin City.
Speaking at the event, Momodu recounted his personal journey and connection to Edo State.
“I was born in Ile-Ife, Osun State, and it took me 30 years to trace my Edo roots because my father passed away early. Visiting my hometown, Ihievbe community in Owan East Local Government Area, has been a life-changing experience, and I have since built a house there,” he said.
Explaining his decision to join the ADC, Momodu stated: “I am here to support like-minded individuals in rescuing our country from a one-party state and one-man system. This is bigger than any personal ambition.”
He also expressed gratitude to Senator Yisa Braimoh for making his visit to Ihievbe memorable. “Senator Braimoh has adopted me as a son, and I am thankful for his guidance and support,” Momodu said.
Senator Braimoh, a native of Ihievbe, praised Momodu’s accomplishments and described his entry into the ADC in glowing terms. “Dele Momodu is a juggernaut who has made a name for himself as a publisher, teacher, and writer. His joining ADC is like a hippopotamus entering a river; it will shake the scene,” he said.
In his remarks, Hon. Odion Kennedy acknowledged the challenges ahead but expressed confidence in the party’s prospects. “We are not under any illusion that the 2027 journey will be tough and rough. But with politicians in the mould of Dele Momodu joining our coalition, the prospects for ADC in the next general election remain bright,” he said.
The ceremony was attended by prominent national leaders of the ADC, including Chief Odigie Oyegun, Senator Yisa Braimoh, and Senator Roland Owie, underscoring the significance of Momodu’s entry into the party and its determination to make a strong impact ahead of the 2027 general elections.
