A member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly representing Uke/Karshi Constituency, Hon. Musa Gude has revealed he appointed 106 aides to support his legislative duties and uplift the living standards in his community.
According to him “I want to disclose that I have 106 aides on my payroll, including special and personal assistants,” Gude made this disclosure during an interview in Lafia on Tuesday. “Some of them receive N100,000, N80,000, N50,000, N30,000, N20,000, and N10,000, respectively.”
The Social Democratic Party (SDP) lawmaker defended the scale of his appointments, describing it as both a governance strategy and a deliberate economic intervention aimed at improving livelihoods across his constituency.
“This is about inclusive leadership and making sure the people feel directly involved in governance,” he said. “It’s also about improving the standard of living for them and their families.”
While critics may question the sustainability or necessity of such a high number of aides, Gude insists the move is backed by tangible efforts in community development. He pointed to several initiatives already underway, including the drilling of boreholes and payment of WAEC fees for students.
“I have done my best in health, education, agriculture, infrastructure and other areas,” he said. “I have also empowered many constituents to enable them to become self-reliant.”
Reaffirming his commitment to service, Gude pledged to continue offering “quality representation” at the state legislature, while urging residents to foster peace and unity.
“I call on my people to continue living in unity, peace, and tolerance, regardless of our differences,” he added.
