NDDC Intensifies Efforts to Deliver Permanent Headquarters

by Our Reporter
The Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, has stepped up efforts to
ensure that the Commission’s 13-floor permanent headquarters complex
along Eastern By-Pass in Port Harcourt is completed on schedule.

Members of the NDDC Interim Management Committee, IMC, led by the Acting
Managing Director, Prof. Kemebradikumo Pondei, were at the new office
complex yesterday to assess the progress of work on the project.

Prof Pondei was accompanied on the inspection by the Acting Executive
Director, Finance and Administration, Chief Ibanga Bassey; the Acting
Executive Director, Projects, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, and a member of the
IMC, Ms Cecilia Akintomide.

The NDDC Chief Executive Officer said he was hopeful that contractors
would still be able to meet the agreed deadline for the completion of
the project, noting: “March 31 is supposed to be the deadline for the
completion of this project. But let us see how far the contractor can
go.”

Pondei, who took members of the IMC on a tedious tour that saw them
climbing up to the top of the 13-floor building, expressed satisfaction
with level of improvement and encouraged the contractors to reach out to
the NDDC management to resolve any challenges.

The Project Consultant Architect Ebiwene Bozimo, who took the IMC
members on tour of the site, noted that apart from the 13-storey main
building, the complex also included a four-storey ancillary building,
gate house and reception.

He added: “Other facilities include drains, paved walkways, parking
lots, retaining wall, sewage treatment plant perimeter fence and
installation of four 800KVA and one 1000KVA generators.”

Bozimo explained that the ancillary building will accommodate facilities
such as a medical centre, car park, restaurant, bank, among others,
noting that all the service equipment for the main building were already
on the site waiting for installation. “Other electrical equipment such
as lifts and escalators are already being installed,” he said.
