Nigerian singer, Ayra Starr has been officially recognized as Spotify’s top female Afrobeats artist, solidifying her position as one of the most influential voices in the genre today.
The streaming platform described her as “the pop star of Afrobeats,” highlighting her significant role in expanding the global reach of Afrobeats music.
Following Ayra Starr in the top five are Tems, the Grammy-winning Nigerian singer; Libianca, an American-Cameroonian artist; Aya Nakamura, a Malian-French singer; and Darkoo, a British-Nigerian performer.
Ayra Starr’s meteoric rise has been fueled by notable achievements, including her single “Rush,” which became the most streamed solo track by a Nigerian female artist on Spotify.
She also earned her first Grammy nomination for Best African Music Performance, and her sophomore album, “The Year I Turned 21”, showcases her versatility and growth as an artist following her debut album, 19 & “Dangerous”
The accolades cement Ayra Starr’s status as a leading figure in Afrobeats and highlights her growing impact on the global music scene.
