NNPCL Port Harcourt Refinery commences production

The Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd)., Olufemi Soneye on Tuesday disclosed that, the Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC) Ltd in Rivers State has commenced processing crude oil production.
Soneye stated this in a statement he issued and made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja.

He described the takeoff as a “groundbreaking milestone”, which signifies a new era of energy independence and economic growth for Nigeria as a nation.

Soneye further stated that the development marked a monumental achievement for Nigeria.

“The Port Harcourt Refinery officially commences crude oil processing today.

This is coming after several failed commencement deadlines.

“Hearty congratulations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the NNPC Board, and the exceptional leadership of GCEO Mele Kyari for their unwavering commitment to this transformative project. Together, we are reshaping Nigeria’s energy future!”

“A truck loading will also commence on Tuesday today, while we are also “working tirelessly to bring the Warri Refinery back online soon”.

Similarly, Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser on Policy Communication to President Bola Tinubu, praised the commencement of production at the Port Harcourt refinery.

He said it was a sign of the president’s commitment to delivering on energy sector promises.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Bwala stated, “President @officialABAT is fulfilling his promise in the energy sector with the Port Harcourt refinery set to begin full operation. Thank you, Mr. President.”
