A new wave of defection has hit the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), as three federal lawmakers from Kano state- Senator Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila, Hon. Kabiru Alhassan Rurum and Aliyu Sani Madakin Gini are set to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The hint was dropped by a source close to the APC leadership after a crucial meeting between the three members of the National Assembly and the National Chairman of the APC, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, at his Abuja residence on Tuesday.
Recall that Senator Kawu Sumaila, and two serving House of Reps members, Hon Ali Madaki and Hon Alhassan Rurum were suspended from NNPP after they met with the NNPP after the election.
Afraid of imminent decamping from the NNPP to an opposition party, the Kano State chapter of NNPP suspended the trio.
While addressing the press, the State Chairman of the party, Alhaji Hashimu Dungurawa, said the action was taken to instill discipline within the party.
According to him, the four legislators, including Senator representing Kano South, Kawu Sumaila; Alhaji Abdullahi Sani Rogo, a member representing Rogo Federal Constituency; Alhaji Abdullahi Rurum, a member representing Rano/Kibiya; and Ali Maadakin Gini, Senator representing Dala Federal Constituency, were suspended.
Senator Sumaila represents Kano South, Rurum, who is the former Speaker, Kano Assembly represents Rano/Bunkure/Kibiya, while Madakin Gini is for Dala federal constituency.
