Malam Habib Abdullahi, the Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), on Monday inaugurated a seven-man task force to decongest traffic along the ports’ access roads in Lagos.
A statement issued in Lagos by Capt. Iheanacho Ebubeogu, the NPA General Manager, Public Affairs, disclosed this.
It said the task force had the NPA General Manager, Special Duties, Mr Inyeinigi-Etomi Sotonye as Chairman.
The statement said that the terms of reference of the task force included:
identifying the cause of congestion and proffering solutions.
The statement said the task force would also make appropriate recommendations to eliminate future congestion and make any other recommendation that the committee might deem necessary.
According to the statement, the task force is to work closely with the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and other agencies to achieve its goals.
It said the task force, which had commenced sitting, had its membership drawn from the NPA Security, Audit, Procurement, Traffic, Legal and Personnel Departments. (NAN)
