Okorocha Directs PDP Council Chairmen To Resume Work

by Our Reporter

Imo State governor, Owelle  Rochas Okorocha  has directed  the 27 PDP council Chairmen to resume work without delay.

The governor gave the directive during a meeting with Imo State stakeholders at Sam Mbakwe Expanded Exco Chambers, Government House, Owerri, in which the 27 Local Government chairmen were also invited, but stayed away citing improper invitation.

Okorocha said, it is a bold step taken by me to ensure peace in the state and to ensure a way forward.  This government is law abiding and will always abide by the rule of law.

He expressed disappointment over the absence of the 27 Local Government chairmen at the meeting despite the extension of olive branch to them. He later invited the 27 council bosses to another meeting on Monday 30th July, 2012.

Okorocha maintained that the state has witnessed a resounding revolution in the area of infrastructural development, road construction and free education even as he stressed that the administration does not need any distraction in its determination to transform the state.

He urged the Chairmen to stop playing politics and embrace governance by partnering with his administration to actualize a better Imo.

The governor insisted that, as democratically elected chairmen or Transition Committee Chairmen, what remains paramount is that all are Imo citizens.

Okorocha has also ordered council workers in the state to resume work after they were sent on forced holiday, in a bid to frustrate the council chairmen who were reinstated by the Court of Appeal.

He therefore called on the people of the state to rally round his administration to move the state forward.
