The Ondo State Commissioner for Transport, Otunba Nicholas Tofowomo, on Friday said the government had concluded arrangements to extend the services of its free students’ shuttle buses to other major towns in the state.
Tofowomo told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Akure that, the buses would begin operation when the students resume in September.
He said the government had acquired 50 buses for the services, pointing out that 20 buses had earlier commenced operation in Akure, the state capital.
The commissioner said the ministry had commenced recruitment of educated professional drivers and other personnel to operate the buses.
“No kobo should be paid by any student”, he stated, adding that the buses were meant for students in public schools only.
“We commenced the free service with 20 buses in Akure before the student went on holidays and it was successful, the same success will be achieved in other towns,” Tofowomo said. (NAN)
