Former President of the Senate, Senator David Mark has once again
canvassed for good neighborliness , fairness and justice as needed
ingredients for peaceful coexistence among Nigerians.
Irrespective of ethnic or religious differences , he stated that ” we
must learn to live together as a people with common destiny and purpose”.
Senator Mark believes that there is hope for a better future if ” We
cultivate and imbibe the virtues of love, honesty and being our brothers’
keeper at all times”.
Senator Mark spoke at a thanksgiving Church service to commemorate the
20th anniversary of the demise of his father, Chief Mark Aikwuta
Ahubi-Mark at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church , Otukpo , Benue State
today .
The immediate past President of the Senate’s father died in 1998 when he
was in exile during the reign of late Head of state, General Sani Abacha .
He was unable to attend his father’s funeral.
Senator Mark urged Nigerians to crave for peace and justice as sine qua-
non for harmonious relationship among citizens.
In memory of his late father, he announced that the family will institute
a scholarship foundation to train Catholic Priests and Reverend Sisters
to help propagate the Gospel in order make the society a better place for
all.
A couple of weeks ago , Senator Mark and his family donated a
magnificent building to the St. Augustine Catholic Church , Otukpo .
Cardinal John Onaiyekan Archbishop of Catholic Diocese of Abuja and his
Otukpo counterpart, Bishop Micheal Apochi performed the dedication of the
church .
Earlier in his homily, Reverend father Philimon Agbo urged leaders at all
levels to make the people the centre of their policies and programmes .
He charged them to leave a legacy of good service to humanity .
