Abia State governor, Chief Theodore Orji says he is poised to make the state the best in Nigeria in the area of excellent health facilities.
In a release by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Ugochukwu Emezue, the governor disclosed that his administration is building more health centres to add to the existing 240 in the state.
The government’s target is to ensure that every community in the state boasts of even more than one health centre that is fully equipped,†the release stated.
Orji maintained that taking health care services to the doorstep of residents is a priority as health is a key development index in any society.
He added that the establishment of two diagnostic centres in the state was in response to the constant oversea trips to seek medical attention by the people.
The governor observed that the people of the state and their neighbours no longer travel abroad as the established centres now serve such purposes and save cost, adding that the bdialysis and eye centres being built by the government in Umuahia would be ready soon.
He further assured that the children specialist hospital and doctor’s quarters at Amachara, Umuahia under construction will be completed on record time.
The governor hinted that ambulances have been acquired for distribution to relevant agencies and urged the people of the state to sustain the cleanliness of their surroundings to avoid health problems.
