Gov. Adams Oshiomhole of Edo has assured the people of Edo of the determination of his administration to ensure sustainable development of the state.
He said that the election of right people into office at the local government level would boost government’s bid in that direction.
The governor made the statement on Wednesday at a campaign rally of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), in Uzebba, Owan West Local Government Area, ahead of the April 20 council elections in the state.
Oshiomhole said that local governments must complement state government’s efforts in the provision of facilities.
“We have a challenge of sustaining what we have already started. We cannot move back, we must move forward.
“We want a local government that can complement what the state government is doing.
“When father and son are working together in tandem, there is no problem. But if a father is going this way and the son is going that way, would there be progress?’’ he asked.
“You have seen the quality of our schools. We are providing water everywhere. We are constructing roads everywhere. In all the local government areas, we are working . We need to sustain the tempo.
“Since we came on board, Edo is no longer what it was. We are not just working, we are doing quality jobs.
“When we build schools, we ensure that we provide furniture and we are ready to give our children the best.
“The challenge today is that no child wants to be in a bad school. We are ensuring that whenever we are building a school, the quality must be the same in all the local government areas.
“We want to show that the children of rural people are of the same quality with the children of the urban people.
“That is the meaning of one man, one vote. The vote of a city man or city woman is the same as the vote of a rural man”, the governor said.
