Outgoing CP Gives Recipe For Effective Security In Nigeria

The outgoing Commissioner of Police (CP) in Abia, Mr Ambrose Aisabor, has urged religious organisations to support efforts toward effective security in the country.

Aisabor made the call during a farewell Church service held in his honour by members of St. Finbarr’s Catholic Church, Umuahia, on Sunday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Aisabor had been transferred to Police Force Headquarters, Abuja, and replaced in Abia by Alhaji Usman Abubakar.

He said that for security to be effective, religious groups, civil society organisations, market women and security organisations must perceive it as a collective duty.

Aisabor, who served in Abia for 10 months, said he was happy that the state was peaceful, compared with other states in the South/East geo-political zone.

“I am happy to say that Abia is one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria and the most secured state in the South/East geo-political zone,’’ he said.

The police boss, who described his stay in Abia as memorable, appealed to the Church community to always remember him in prayers as the job of security was associated with many challenges.

Rev. Fr. Leo Amafili, the Parish Priest of St. Finbarr’s Catholic Church, said that the Church community was not happy about Aisabor’s transfer.

“You have barely stayed in Abia and throughout your stay, the state experienced relative peace and harmony. We will have wished that the authority allows you more time to work in Abia,’’ he said.

Amafili, who offered special prayers for the commissioner, urged members of the Church to always pray for Aisabor and the nation toward surmounting the security challenges facing it.
