The Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has issued a firm warning to high-profile individuals and groups planning unscheduled visits to the state, stating that any such visit made without his express permission would be at the visitor’s risk.
In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Kula Tersoo, on Monday, April 14, 2025, the Governor made it clear that his administration will not be responsible for the safety or security of anyone who enters the state without prior clearance.
Alia emphasized that those wishing to visit Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps in the state must first obtain written approval from the Benue State Emergency Management Agency (BSEMA).
The statement, titled “Notice Regarding Unscheduled Visit to Benue State,” underscored the Governor’s tight schedule and his expectation for all dignitaries to follow due process.
“I am not expecting any August visitor to the state today,” the statement read, referencing the Governor’s day filled with crucial meetings involving key stakeholders on urgent state matters.
The Governor further cautioned against any political gatherings or visits that could spark public assemblies without clearance, saying, “It is imperative for anyone considering a visit to Benue State without the Governor’s knowledge to reconsider, as we cannot guarantee safety or security in such instances.”
Kula urged security operatives and the public to take note of the directive, stressing the importance of maintaining peace and order across the state.
