The Acting National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Arc. Setonji Koshoedo used has urged staff members of the party to get the staff ready ahead of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled to take place on May 27.
The last NEC meeting of the PDP took place on April 18, 2024 at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja. Since then, several attempts had been made for the party to hold NEC meeting without success.
But the PDP Governors at their meeting recently in April in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital revealed that the NEC meeting will eventually take place just as they are planning a national convention to hold in Kano around 28th August.
The interaction was a morale booster which will lead to a reinvigoration of activities at the National Secretariat of the party which slowed down following the leadership tussle between Senator Samuel Anyanwu the elected National Secretary of the party and Hon. Sunday Ude-Okoye who was appointed by the Southeast stakeholers to replace Anyanwu after he became the Imo State governorship candidate of the party.
The meeting was a major step by the Acting National Secretary in his efforts to reposition and strengthen the party’s workforce for the task ahead Including preparing the Secretariat for the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for May 27, 2025, and the National Convention slated for August 28 to 30, 2025.
During the meeting, Hon. Koshoedo emphasized his commitment to advancing the National Working Committee’s (NWC) agenda of reunification, rebuilding, and repositioning the PDP as a formidable opposition party.
He reiterated his dedication to energizing party structures at all levels, from grassroots to national, to strengthen the PDP’s role in Nigeria’s political landscape.
The Acting National Secretary briefed the staff on preparations for the NEC meeting, which is expected to address critical issues, including the zoning arrangements for national offices ahead of the National Convention and strategies to address other challenges facing the party.
Koshoedo assured that the NWC is taking decisive steps to restore order and chart a path toward the 2027 general elections.
Koshoedo, who assumed the role of Acting National Secretary following the directive of the NWC, called on staff to cooperate fully in implementing the party’s directives.
He highlighted the importance of aligning all party organs with the NWC’s vision to rebuild trust and credibility among members and the public.
Staff of the party commended the Acting National Secretary for his efforts and pledged to give him and the NWC their unwavering support and commitment towards the unity, stability and success of the party
