The Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko, has urged his party, the PDP, to take advantage of the ineptitude and cluelessness of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to return to power in 2019.
According to him, the PDP must take advantage of what he described as the unimpressive performance of the ruling All Progressives Congress .
The governor spoke on Saturday at the southwest zonal congress of the party which held at the International Conference Centre in Akure.
He said the future of the PDP depended on the action and inaction of the southwest chapter of the party.
Mimiko noted that PDP in the zone occupied strategic position in Nigerian political realm.
He said the southwest remained the leading light of politics in Nigeria, calling on the leadership of the party to stand up for what is right and be consistent with the history of “progressivism” that the zone was known for.
He also appealed to the leadership of the party to stand firm because of the tedious task ahead of them, calling on other members of the party to be united and committed to its success in the future elections.
In his remarks, the Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, said the party would do well if all members come together as one.
He also cautioned the judiciary not to allow itself to be used by those who want to cause disunity in the party.
