Police announce arrest of notorious bandit, Bello Mohammed, who kidnapped, killed Nabeeha, others

In a breakthrough, the Nigeria Police Force, on the 20th of January 2024, successfully apprehended a notorious bandits and kidnapper, Bello Mohammed, a 28-year-old resident of Zamfara State, in Kaduna.
This operation, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Tafa Division, was conducted based on actionable intelligence.

In a statement, Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, Abuja ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said acting on the information received, the DPO, SP Idris Ibrahim, orchestrated a raid on a hotel in the Tafa Area of Kaduna, resulting in the arrest of Bello Mohammed.

Alongside the suspect, a substantial amount of N2.25 million (Two Million, Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira) was confiscated, suspected to be proceeds from ransoms collected in various kidnapping incidents within the area.

Upon interrogation, Bello Mohammed confessed to being a member of a criminal gang responsible for the kidnapping of the family members of Barrister Ariyo in Bwari, FCT, on the 2nd of January 2024.

Shockingly, he also admitted to his involvement in the gruesome murder of Nabeeha, the daughter of the aforementioned legal practitioner, on the 13th of January 2024.

The heinous acts were carried out at a kidnappers’ camp located in Kaduna State.

In a noteworthy development, the suspect attempted to offer a bribe of N1,000,000 (One Million Naira) to the DPO in an unsuccessful bid to evade justice.

SP Idris Ibrahim, however, upheld the highest standards of integrity and professionalism by rejecting the bribe and ensuring the due process of law.

Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has issued directives for the transfer of the apprehended suspect to the Directorate of Intelligence Response Team (DFI-IRT) in Abuja.

This transfer is aimed at facilitating discreet investigations into the matter and ensuring the arrest of all other culprits involved in the reprehensible criminal activities.

Bello Mohammed has become an invaluable asset in aiding ongoing police investigations.

The IGP commended the DPO Tafa, SP Idris Ibrahim, for his unwavering commitment and display of professionalism throughout the course of the investigation.

IGP Egbetokun further assured the public that the Police Force remained resolute in its commitment to eradicating criminal elements and fostering a more secure society for all Nigerians.
