Police in Kano during a routine raid across the metropolitan city tracked down fleeing suspected terrorists believed to have taken part in the recent attacks within the state capital during which two police officers and two members of the Kano Command of the Federal Road Safety Commission were shot dead.
The Commssioner of Police, Ibrahim K. Idris said 10 suspected terrorists have been arrested by the police in connection in the deadly attacks.
In a statement issued by the Bompai Headquarters of the Kano Police Command and signed by the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, the Police said so far the operation had been successful with the arrest of 10 persons who have confessed to the commission of the crime.
Idris said of the 10 suspects in police net, eight of them were been quizzed over the killing of two policemen in Dawanu area while the other two were masterminds of the attack that claim the lives two FRSC officials in Madobi area of Kano state.
The statement also disclosed that three rifles snatched by the suspects were recovered in an uncompleted building in the neighbourhood of Dawaun, adding that two of the AK47 weapons belonged to the slain policemen.
All the suspects according to police boss have made confessional statement, adding that one of the suspects sustained gunshot injuries during the process of arrest and later died in the hospital.
“The second suspect one Ibrahim Inusa of Sudanese parentage with no fixed address is in Police custody, the two were involved in the killing of the two road Safety men”.
The statement read in part: One of the suspects, Ibrahim Inusa together with others at large specialized in the killing of innocent citizens in the State. During investigation, he confessed to have organized and participated in various killings of civilians and security personnel at Gaida,Sheka,Gwale and other parts of Kano Metropolis including the recent killing of some Federal Road Safety Commission Staffs along Sabon Titi Madobi Road Kano.
“He claimed that the slain FRSC arrested their motorcycle and said that was the reason why they planned and attacked him and his colleagues. He also confessed that their gang deceived their victims with a GSM call that there was an accident along Madobi Road, which needed their intervention and they ambushed them on their way to the imaginary accident scene while they were attacked and killed”.
“One of the suspects also laid claim to the attack that killed a Mobile Policeman at nipping point close to Sani Abacha Youth Center. Members of the gang now with the police admitted involvement in hired killing and said they have participated in many of such crimes. That they were once hired by one man to assassinate another man whom he suspected was having an affair with his man-friend, in a case of homosexuality. They trailed the man on his Vespa at Zoo Road area and killed him”.
“The suspect added that he derive pleasure in killing human beings. Investigation is in progress to arrest all his accomplices”.
