The Enugu state Police Command has announced the successful rescue of 28 kidnapped victims and the arrest of 10 suspects involved in abductions.
The State ‘s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe Ekea announced the development on Tuesday.
The operation, according to him was carried out by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the command, following a series of intelligence-driven raids across the state.
The coordinated crackdown operations in various locations across the state led to the safe rescue of the 28 victims.
The victims, whose identities are yet to be disclosed, are currently receiving medical attention and psychological support. Facilities were also not disclosed.
The police also announced that 10 individuals were arrested during the operations, while several items, including firearms and other tools, were believed to have been used in their various operations.
There was no mention of specified numbers or the exact nature or quantity of the recovered items.
The arrested suspects are currently in police custody, undergoing interrogation.
The Command’s PPRO also assured the public that thorough investigations will be conducted and that those found culpable will face the full wrath of the law.
The Enugu State Police Command further reiterated its commitment to combating kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state and reemphasised the importance of community cooperation in providing timely and accurate information to assist law enforcement agencies.
