Police Says 25 Killed in Gashua Attack

At least 25 persons were killed on Thursday  when suspected Boko Haram members attacked different  Police location in Gashua town, Yobe State, Police Commissioner revealed.

Five policemen and Twenty Boko Haram Terrorist were killed during attack on Police Divisional Headquarters, Police Area Command and Mobile Police Base  and left two other policemen injured  in  Gashua town says Sanusi Rufai , Police Commissioner in Yobe state during a press conference in Damaturu.

“Five policemen and 20 gunmen had been confirmed dead when some Boko Haram Terrorist attacked Police Formation in Gushua town ” Rufai said.

The Police Commissioner also reveal that “the gunmen who came in large numbers also attacked a commercial bank and cart away the sum of N9Million and two vehicles ”
Rufai Stated  that the gunmen had earlier captured  the bank manager, forcing him to open the vault of the Bank before stealing N9 Million

“The Police and Military men later engaged the gunmen in a gun battle, recovering the two cars and an Isuzu Hilux van, belonging to the terrorists”. Rufai said

The Police Commissioner reveal  that two guns, two locally made pistols; two long range rifles; 19 hand grenades and assorted ammunitions were also recovered from the gunmen.

He said that one of the gunmen was captured and “he is assisting the police with information on the attack”.

“It is the same group using police and military uniforms that attacked Tarmuwa, Gulani and Giedam in recent times,” the Police Chief said.
