Police Seal PDP Secretariat Amidst Leadership Tussle

by Our Reporter
The Nigerian Police have taken control of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Secretariat on Aba Road in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, amid an ongoing leadership crisis within the party.
A tactical unit from the Rivers State Police Command has deployed special forces to the area, blocking access with a patrol van at the main entrance and restricting entry to the secretariat.

This blockade has led to significant disruptions in traffic flow on the busy Aba Road, forcing motorists to navigate a single lane.

The police action follows the appointment of Nname Robinson Ewor as the Acting Chairman of the PDP, after a Rivers State High Court sacked Aaron Chukwuemeka and his executive committee.

In his address to party members, Ewor clarified that Chukwuemeka is no longer recognized as the PDP State Chairman but may retain his role as Chairman of the Grassroots Development Initiative (GDI).

Ewor confirmed that Governor Siminalayi Fubara continues to serve as the leader of the PDP in Rivers State due to his position.

He also urged the public to dismiss any claims that former Governor Nyesom Wike, now Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), holds leadership status within the party.

The unfolding situation reflects the ongoing tensions within the PDP in Rivers State and raises questions about the party’s future direction.
