Police Storm Kidnappers’ Den, Rescue Abducted Journalist

Policemen in Aba, Abia state yesterday stormed a kidnappers’ camp in Mgboko Umuezi community of Obingwa local council and rescued a journalist who was abducted on Friday night.

The journalist, Lynda Osuala, a staff of the Aba station of the Nigeria Television Authority, was abducted around 8.30pm on her way back to her residence at Ogbor Hill area of the commercial city.

Acting on a tip off, the policemen from the Aba Area Command led by the officer in charge of the Special Anti Robbery Squad, Anari N. Anari, stormed the kidnappers’ camp and arrested 15 persons while others fled sustaining bullets wounds after an exchange of fire with the police.

The police also nabbed a native doctor, Ngozi Nwogwugwu who allegedly prepares charm for the kidnappers.

Abia state Commissioner of Police, Usman Tili Abubakar who spoke in a telephone interview commended his men for taking the fight to the kidnappers’ den and called on members of the public to assist the police with information about criminals, stressing that Abia state is unsafe for criminal activities.
