Port Harcourt opens International Trade Fair

The Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce on Thursday said the 8th Port Harcourt international trade fair was organised in line with international standard practices.

Declaring the fair open in Port Harcourt, Mr Emeka Unachukwu, President of the Chamber, described it as “an improved edition’’.

Unachukwu said that the 8th edition of the trade fair was the best so far; and that the chamber had prepared for it using international standard practices.

“’We have continued to upgrade the quality of our planning and organisation to match international standards.

“There is presence of fire fighting personnel and highly improved security set up at the fair ground.’’

Unachukwu said that the uniqueness of the trade fair lied in the supporting programmes that had adorned the entire event.

The chamber boss explained that this year’s edition would be featuring best of Nigerian music acts, adding that there would be improved regular brands and stars’ concert.

He said that the chamber had introduced a talent hunt programme in partnership with Wave Entertainment (WE) for young designers.

Unachukwu stressed the need to transform Port Harcourt into a “world class hub for industry, commerce and general business activities.’’

He disclosed plans by the chamber to enlarge the trade fair exhibition concept from 2013 by including specialised fairs and exhibitions in the strategic economic growth.

The chamber president thanked the governor of the state, Gov. Chibuike Amaechi for supporting the chamber and pledged to promote government economic policies. (NAN)
