Renowned Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has revealed that his greatest fear in life is not death, but poverty.
Speaking on a recent episode of “The Nancy Isime Show”, the music star recounted a harrowing experience from his childhood that shaped his view on financial security.
“I am not afraid of death. The only thing I am afraid of in this life is poverty, of being broke. I have tasted it before,” Mr P said.
He described how his family’s rented single-room apartment in Jos was demolished after the landlord sold the property.
“We were living in our house with my parents and siblings when a bulldozer came and demolished it.
“We were all packed into a boys’ quarter. Me, my mum, my dad, six boys, and two girls in a one-bedroom apartment. We had to divide the room with a curtain.
” Despite our pleas for more time to plan our relocation, the bulldozer came while we were still inside,” he added.
Mr P’s candid revelation offers insight into the struggles he faced growing up and the challenges that motivated him to succeed in the music industry.
