A 300 Level student in the department of Software Engineering of Veritas University, Mr. Daniel Inaju has been selected by the African Telecommunication Union to attend this year’s G20 Digital Innovation Alliance Summit in Cape Town, South Africa.
In a letter to Mr. Inalu, the secretary General of the African Telecommunications Union, Mr. John Omo said he was selected based on a rigourous process that examined software solutions from over 500 other entrants.
“On behalf of the African Telecommunications Union, (ATU), I am delighted to inform you that your solution, FIMI Framework, a secure PHP toolkit that accelerates web development while embedding advanced security features has been selected as one of ATU’s nominees in the secured digital Infrastructure category for the G20 Digital Innovation alliance, (G20-DIA) Summit and Digital Innovation Challenge, which will take place in Cape Town, South Africa..
“Your nomination follows a rigourous internal review of more than 5oo entries drawn from all the four (4) editions of the Africa Innovation Challenge Series, and reflects the potential impact of your innovation in advancing Africa’s digital transformation agenda” part of the nomination letter reads.
It will be recalled that the Software Engineering students of Veritas University won the third edition of the ATU Innovation Challenge held in Nairobi, Kenya on February 9, 2024.
Speaking on the development, the Vice Chancellor of Veritas University, Abuja, Rev. Fr. Prof. Hyacinth Ichoku said Daniel Inalu’s nomination was a ‘loud testimony of the wonderful things we are doing at Veritas University. It is a further confirmation that the laurels so far won by our university were not fluke. We are very proud of our faculties and our students and will fully support Daniel at the world stage” he said.
The head of Department of Software engineering, Dr. Emmanuel Mkpojuogu said “Daniel’s achievement highlights the potential of his innovation to contribute to Africa’s digital transformation agenda. This nomination is a testament to Daniel’s hard work, dedication, and ingenuity. It also reflects the high-quality education and innovative spirit that we foster within the Department of Software Engineering here at Veritas University. We are incredibly proud of Daniel for this well-deserved recognition and for showcasing the calibre of talent emerging from our institution on a global stage.
