The wife of Kwara governor, Mrs Omolewa Ahmed, on Friday distributed food items to socio-political groups and women leaders in the three senatorial districts of the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the items, which included rice, beans, guinea corn and beverages were given as Ramadan package to Muslim faithful.
Ahmed, the founder of LEAH Charity Foundation, said the gesture was aimed at making the Ramadan pleasant for women and children in the state.
She enjoined the groups to distribute the food items evenly among their members.
The governor’s wife also gave an assurance that the distribution of food items for widows and the less-privileged would be made in the second phase.
Ahmed was represented at the distribution exercise by her aide, Alhaja Aminat Kanike. (NAN)
