Businessman and senator, Ned Nwoko, has denied claims of domestic violence levelled against him by his wife, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, describing the allegations as false and malicious.
The controversy began after a viral video surfaced online showing Regina Daniels visibly emotional, lamenting that she could no longer endure “violence” in her marriage.
In the footage, the actress could be heard saying, “In Ned Nwoko’s house, I am nothing, but in my own house, I am a queen. Not again. I can’t stand the violence; it’s too much,” as onlookers tried to calm her down.
The clip sparked widespread outrage and speculation about a possible case of domestic abuse in the Nwoko household.
Reacting through a statement on Sunday, Nwoko refuted the claims, insisting that he has never been violent towards his wife. Instead, he alleged that Regina’s behaviour was being influenced by drug and alcohol abuse, which, according to him, had taken a toll on their marriage.
“Regina was not always like this. Her current battle with drugs and alcohol abuse is the root of our problem,” Nwoko said.
He claimed that the actress had, in the past 48 hours, assaulted three of his staff members and destroyed property, including vehicles and windows.
“Regina is the violent one here, slapping and hitting three staff in the past 48 hours and destroying property, including cars and windows, for no just cause,” he added.
The senator alleged that two individuals identified as “Sammy” and “Ann” were responsible for supplying Regina with drugs, and accused them of stirring up chaos in his home.
“A clear-headed Regina would have taken Moon to the hospital, but instead she even threatened to kill our resident nurse for exposing her drug abuse. While I took Moon to the hospital, a scene of chaos unfolded at home,” Nwoko stated.
He further revealed that he had urged his wife to undergo rehabilitation either in Asokoro, Abuja, or abroad, possibly in Jordan, where she would have limited access to drugs.
“Regina must continue her rehabilitation programme, or I fear for her life and safety,” he warned.
As of the time of filing this report, Regina Daniels had not issued an official response to her husband’s allegations.
The incident has stirred heated debate across social media platforms, with many Nigerians expressing mixed reactions some calling for a thorough investigation, while others urged caution until both sides are fully heard.
