Rivers Govt. Plans To Digitalise Legal Processes, Says Attorney-General

by Our Reporter

The Rivers Government on Monday said plans were underway to digitalise the legal processes in the state for speedy delivery of justice.

The state Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Worgu Boms revealed this to newsmen in Port Harcourt.

Boms said that though the judiciary had not shown enough interest in transiting to digital technology, the plan would be of great advantage to the system.

“It is worrisome that the judiciary seems the slowest in transiting to the use of technology in delivering its services.

“This has not helped the system at all, we need to key into the modern trend in justice delivery,’’ he said.

Boms said that in the new plan, courts would be provided with state of the art digital equipment that would ensure speedy and efficient justice delivery.

“We will meet with lawyers too, our thinking and way of doing the job has to change, the lawyer also has to be prepared to be part of the transition.

“Remember that as a lawyer, you have not only your client to satisfy, you also have the other parties and the system,” the commissioner further said. (NAN)
