Again, Rivers State Legislature hasgiven the nod to the State Governor,
Barrister Nyesom Wike, to access a N9billion credit from Zenith Bank.
The approval was given to the governorduring an emergency sitting convened
by the Speaker of the House, DimaDabotoru. Wike had sent the request to
theAssembly demanding its approval to allow him access the said loan.
He also noted that the money would be used for capital projects, adding
that theloan would be repaid from money the state earns from Indorama
Company,Petrochemical Eleme in the state. Ruling on the governor’s
request,the Speaker, Dabotoru , called on his colleagues to back the
governor’s demand. The Speaker who adjourned the 8thAssembly till July
19, reiterated that theloan would be used for the development of the
state. “There is need for this House to grant therequest of the governor
of the state, which stands as a request. I call on thisAssembly to support
the state governor to allow him access the loan. The loanif obtained will
be used for developmental projects in the state.”
