The 13,000 teachers newly recruited by the Rivers state government are to receive their appointment letters through electronic means.
Permanent Secretary, Rivers state Ministry of Education, Richard Ofuru said the letters are ready to be transmitted to the new teachers.
He stated that the decision was reached at a meeting of between the Ministry and State Universal Basic Board as well as the Schools Board.
“ I have had a meeting with the chairmen of boards and we decided that the posting be done electronically and appointment letters sent to the candidates through their zonal Directors of Education or Education Secretaries at their schools.”
Ofuru disclosed that the Ministry wants the new teachers to get to their duty posts and take up classes to reduce the scarcity of manpower in the state school system.
Recall the Rivers state Ministry of Education had on Wednesday 25th September, 2013 summoned the newly recruited teachers to the Liberation Stadium to collect their appointment letters, but the state command of the police aborted the exercise on the grounds that it was a trick to launch a protest against the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan.
