The National Working Committee (NWC)of the All Progressive Grand Alliance
( APGA) has stated reasons why it sacked the former national chairman of
the party, Dr. Victor Oye.
Acting national deputy chairman, South of the party, Mr. Jerry Obasi, who
disclosed this in Enugu, explained that Oye’s non adherence to the party’s
constitution and disrespect to members of its NWC were the major reason
why the party wielded the big stick against him.
Obasi who was the deputy governorship candidate of the party in Ebonyi
state in the 2015 election, added that Oye serially breached the party’s
constitution and ran APGA like a private business, leading to the exit of
many founding members of the party.
He insisted that Oye’s removal from office had brightened the chances of
APGA winning the Anambra State governorship poll on November 18.
He said, “Victor Oye is a stranger to APGA, this is why he started on a
wrong footing and premises right from day one. He emerged APGA national
chairman from outside the party and felt he owed allegiance to only those
who imposed him on the party. Oye ran APGA like his personal business and
serially breached the Constitution. He had no regard for the members of
the National Working Committee. Many founding members left the party
because of Oye’s dictatorial style.
“The removal of Victor Oye has brightened APGA’s chances in the Anambra
state governorship election on November 18. APGA is the party to beat.
Most members who abandoned the party due to Oye’s visionless
administration had started returning since Martin Agbaso emerged national
chairman.”
While calling on the chairman, Board of Trustee of the party, Governor
Willie Obiano, to support Martin Agbaso as APGA’s national chairman, Obasi
warned that the governor may be risking his re-election bid by backing Oye
and urged him to help rebuild APGA.
