Bayelsa State government is set to select the first batch of scholarship awardees to Lincoln University, Pennsylvania, Governor Seriake Dickson has said.
The governor is to meet with stakeholders in the education sector next Monday, a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Daniel Iworiso-Marson said.
According to the statement, the meeting is a fallout of the recent Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Bayelsa State Government and the Lincoln University, Pennsylvania, United States of America,
The meeting, the statement explained, shall among other things agree on the modalities for selecting the first set of two beneficiaries from each of the eight local government areas in a most transparent manner.
Expected at the meeting are Commissioner for education, Special Adviser on Tertiary education, council chairmen, Vice Chancellor, Niger Delta University and Chairman of the State scholarship board.
Also invited are Provost, Isaac Adaka Boro College of Education and the Rector, Bayelsa State College of Arts and Science.
“The MOU is such that students from Bayelsa State will pay far lesser fees that even Americans,” said the CPS, stressing, “the situation has therefore made it extremely necessary for the State to present only the very best.”
