The Senate on Tuesday approved the appointment of six Members Of The Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC).

The approval of the upper chamber followed the report on the Committee On Establishment And Public Service On The Screening Of The Following Nominees For Appointment As Members Of The Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC).’

Sen. Aloysuis Etok chairs the Committee On Establishment And Public Service.

They six members are Dr. Mrs. Ngozi Agatha Etolue (Anambra) representing Anambra/Ebonyi/Enugu; Hon. Hope Odhuluma Ikiriko (Rivers) representing Bayelsa/Rivers/Delta; Prof. Aminu Diyo Sheidu (Kogi) representing Kogi/Kwara

Others are Mr. Emmanuel Chimezie Ihedioha (Abia) representing Imo/Abia; Mr. Joseph Olufemi Akande (Osun) representing Osun/Oyo.

The Deputy Senate Leader Abdul Ningi, however expressed concern on the criteria used for the representation by inquiring why some are grouped in three states and others in two.

Also Sen.  Ita Enang  suggested that since only 16 offices exist it is better that a formula is adopted where every state in the federation would have produced a candidate to occupy a slot before another state gets it another time.

He pointed out that one of the states already represented in the nominees list already has a candidate as the Chairman of the Commission suggesting further that this list be rejected as a result.

However, the Senate endorsed their appointment as Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu who chaired the session congratulated the nominees and urged them to do their jobs accordingly.
