Sierra Leone Develops Energy Strategy

The Government of Sierra Leone has developed energy strategy through its Ministry of Energy to catapult the country’s development into the twenty first century.

 

The Minister of Energy for Sierra Leone, Ambassador Henry Macaulay disclosed this while announcing the Power Sierra Leone event which was designed to launch the strategy in London.

 

The minister noted that energy as the keystone and catalyst for all sectors of the economy motivated the administration to develop the strategy which he said will open Sierra Leone energy sector for business and foreign investment.

 

“We are open for business! Through partnerships and investments, we believe that our vision of installing 1000MW of generation facilities and the complement transmission and distribution networks is achievable”, the minister said.

 

The minister who said Power Sierra Leone is the official launching of the Energy Strategy, added that ‘’the  Forum will provide a platform for energy investors, donor partners, bilateral partners to meet and discuss with senior Government officials who will present opportunities for financing and investment in energy and power infrastructure’’

 

The launching is expected to hold in London October 9th.

 

Macaulay was the Sierra Leone Ambassador to Nigeria before his appointment as the Energy Minister.
