Tension As Abia CP Reserves Key Police Divisions For Kinsmen

by Our Reporter

Tension is brewing in the Abia State Police Command following the
redeployment of Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) by the new Commissioner
of Police, Mr. Adeleye Oyebade, and subsequent reservation of ‘juicy’
Divisions to his South West kinsmen.

Some of the Police Divisions in Aba described by Policemen as ‘juicy’
include Ndiegoro, Abayi, Central Police Station, Osisioma, Ariaria, Isiala
Ngwa North and Omoba.

Sources told Pointblanknews.com that Oyebade who was transferred to the
state from Oyo state Command, had moved at least 9 DPOs and replaced them
with his Yoruba kinsmen, causing great disaffection among the rank of
senior Police officers in the area.

Most notable is the officer in charge of Patrol and Guard (P&G) in Aba
Area Command, one Musa Muhammed who has been a link between the Hausa
community in Aba and the Police. Muhammed has been replaced by Olagide
Owolabi as the new officer, P&G in the Aba Area Command.

The affected DPOs include Francis Ndabula (Ariaria Division) replaced by
Ayola Oluwole; Mr. Nwobu who was barely a month in office as DPO,  Central
Police Station, Aba, now replaced by CSP Isiaka Adeona and DPO, Ndiegoro
Division, Woke Kingsley replaced by CSP Olusegun Omosanyin. However,
Omosanyin has been promoted to the ACP rank and transferred out of the
state.

Other Divisions where the CP redeployed the sitting DPO to make way for
his kinsman include Isiala Ngwa North with Mr. Bankole Eluyera out for one
Ugoeze, among others.

SP Musa Saleh of DPO of Eastern Ngwa Division who was transferred to the
state Police headquarters, Umuahia to make way for an officer from the
South West, has been restored to the Division.

Efforts made to get the reaction of CP Oyebade proved abortive as he
failed to take repeated calls to his mobile number.
