Gov. Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta has lauded the management of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Asaba, for effectively utilising its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
The governor, who gave the commendation on Thursday in Asaba, while inaugurating block of offices built for staff of the station with the IGR, pledged government continued support for the station.
He commended Mrs Pauline Igbanor, the General Manger of the station, for her vision, prudency and commitment in making the building of the administrative block of the station possible.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) gathered that Igbanor has been elevated to the position of Zonal Director, in the Benin Office of the authority.
The governor congratulated the Ag Director-General of NTA, Malam Musa Mayaki, on his elevation, adding that the station no doubt had made a mark in information dissemination in the country and Africa.
Earlier, Mayaki thanked the governor and the people of Delta for their various contributions, which he observed, had sustained the stations in the state.
He noted that it was the state government that single handedly built three NTA stations in Asaba, Sapele and Warri.
The acting Director-General, however, said that the Warri station was later pulled down for some reasons.
He described the governor as articulate in supporting good projects and programmes and for the development of the state.
Also speaking, Igbanor said the need to build the offices was borne out of the necessity to provide adequate offices for the staff to boost their operations.
She also commended the state government for providing the station with two operational vehicles and urged it to continue with the assistance.
The state government gesture, she said, encouraged the management of the station to plough back its savings into the completion of the office building and the acquisition of two generating sets. (NAN)
