Bandits stormed the Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS) in Maga, Danko/Wasagu LGA of Kebbi State early Monday, killing Vice-Principal Hassan Yakubu Makuku and abducting an unknown number of students in a brazen attack that has thrown the community into mourning.
Maga, a community that has recently faced multiple attacks, was gripped by fear as the assailants struck around 5 a.m., according to resident Aliyu Yakubu.
“The attack has created panic among residents of Maga. We are now living in fear and mourning,” he said.
Yakubu added that the school principal, Makuku, was shot while trying to protect the students from being taken. “He was shot as he tried to stop the bandits from abducting the students. It’s a huge loss for the community and the school,” he said.
As of filing this report, the Kebbi State Police Command had not released any official statement. The command’s public relations officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, did not respond to repeated calls.
Further details on the incident are expected to follow.
