The world of professional wrestling is in mourning following the death of iconic wrestling superstar Hulk Hogan.
The WWE Hall of Famer, whose real name was Terry Gene Bollea, passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at the age of 71.
According to reports, Hogan died of cardiac arrest at his Clearwater, Florida home.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after a 9:51 a.m. distress call and transported him to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Hogan had reportedly been recovering from recent neck surgery and had battled chronic back and joint pain in the months leading to his death. Despite this, he was said to be in good spirits and had been actively involved in professional wrestling through his newly launched Real American Freestyle promotion.
Widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in wrestling history, Hogan rose to superstardom in the 1980s during the “Hulkamania” era.
He headlined multiple WrestleMania events and held numerous championship titles, becoming a global icon through his charisma, signature moves, and catchphrases.
Beyond the ring, Hogan made his mark in entertainment, starring in movies such as Rocky III and the reality TV series Hogan Knows Best. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame twice, first in 2005 as an individual and again in 2020 as a member of the legendary faction New World Order (nWo).
The WWE confirmed his death in an official statement, expressing deep sorrow and offering condolences to Hogan’s family, friends, and millions of fans around the world.
Tributes have poured in from wrestling legends, celebrities, and fans, with many remembering Hogan’s immense impact on the sport and pop culture. “He was larger than life in every sense. A true icon,” one fan wrote on social media.
Hogan is survived by his children, Brooke and Nick, and his wife, Sky, whom he married in 2023.
Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced in the coming days.
