The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has raised fresh alarm over the growing impact of cybercriminals, widely known as Yahoo Boys, on Nigeria’s economic stability.
In a newly released viral video, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale stated that these internet fraudsters are causing “more harm to Nigeria’s economy than any other group,” stressing that their activities continue to threaten businesses, discourage investment, and hinder national development.
Oyewale explained that the rising wave of cyber fraud is damaging the country’s global reputation and undermining efforts to build a stable economic environment. He urged Nigerians to stay alert, report suspicious online behavior, and support ongoing efforts to combat cybercrime.
According to him, the EFCC remains fully committed to tracking down perpetrators, prosecuting offenders, and protecting the nation’s economic future.
