A Ghanaian university lecturer has raised the alarm over what he described as a growing trend of indecent dressing among female students on campus, expressing deep concern about its moral and academic implications.
In a widely circulated video, the lecturer, whose name was not immediately disclosed, recounted his shock at seeing female students attend lectures in revealing outfits that leave little to the imagination.
“You could see their panties,” he lamented, describing the situation as not just disrespectful to the academic environment but a sign of deteriorating societal values.
He criticized the educational institutions for failing to enforce dress codes and allowing what he termed “fashion gone wild” to thrive unchecked.
According to him, such manner of dressing distracts both students and lecturers, and sends the wrong message about the role of women in academia.
His comments have sparked heated debate across social media in Ghana and beyond, with some defending students’ rights to dress as they choose, while others agreed with the lecturer’s call for modesty and discipline on campus.
The controversy has once again reignited discussions around dress codes, moral standards, and freedom of expression in African universities.
