The National Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been advised to dissolve and re organize the Oyo State Executive committee of the party in order to accommodate all the leading lights of the party and provide space for the home coming PDP founder in the state, Senator Rasheed Adewolu Ladoja.
This was contained in a communiqué issued by the immediate past Chairmen of the entire 33 Local Government Councils in the state after a meeting held in Igboora yesterday. The chairmen resolved that the dissolution and reorganization of the state executive committee was the best option left for the party if it genuinely meant business and wants to win future elections in the state, with ease.
At present, the State Executive Committee of the party is unilaterally in the hands of former Senate Leader, Senator Teslim Folarin with the collaboration of Senator Hosea Agboola and Hon. Ajibola Muraina.
Out, in the cold are the immediate past Governor of Oyo State, Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao Akala, his deputy, Alhaji Taofeek Arapaja , the sitting Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, Oloye Olajumoke Akinjide with several other luminaries of PDP in the state.
The local government chairmen who incidentally are the leaders of the party at the grassroots declared that the executive committee of the party as presently composed and controlled was abhorent to growth and big hindrance to the reconciliatory, repositioning and progressive stance of the National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur.
In the communiqué jointly signed by Alhaji Omilabu Gandhi and Agba Akin Kehinde Olaosebikan, Chairman and Secretary of the Forum respectively, the chairmen said they took the decision “ after a thorough examination of the present position of the party in the state, the future of PDP in Oyo State and the overwhelming demands of the generality of the people of the state for a quick rescue of the state from the hands of the incompetent, oppressive, wicked and visionless government of ACN in the state.
“Without putting any blame on anybody for the present position of the party in the state, the Peoples Democratic Party and indeed Oyo state generally will benefit a lot from the strong combination of Senator Rasheed Ladoja and his younger brother, Otunba Alao Akala as the party will gain profoundly from the passionate love enjoyed by these former governors by their peoples, while the state would be better fortified and united by the love.
“We, after a painstaking consideration of the present poor situation of the party in the state and on the need to move forward, we hereby strongly advise the National Executive Committee to dissolve the present lopsided executive committee of the party in the state in order to give way for a more inclusive executive that will take care of all the interests including those of the estranged members willing to return to the PDP family”
“Particularly, we recognize the desire of our leader, Senator Rasheed Adewolu Ladoja to return to the party and we hold firmly that his return will, in no mean way increase the fortunes of the party. As a matter of fact, we respectfully with every sense of responsibility appeal to the the national executive to do all within its power to ensure that Senator Adewolu Adedoja is reabsorbed into the party as soon as possible.
“As the party leaders at the grassroots, we are the ones wearing the shoes and we know where they pinch. What the PDP needs now in our state is an all embracing state executive with every interest and area carried along.”
The Chairmen maintained that they were convinced that the former Governor of the state was genuinely interested in coming back to the back and that they, as leaders at the grassroots were determined to actualize this.
They expressed joy on the heartwarming decisions of both Senator Rasheed Ladoja and Otunba Adebayo Alao Akala to bury the hatchets and work together in harmony, describing the development “ as the best in the interest of Oyo State.”
