You Are Celebrating Fourteen Years Of Nigeria’s Ruination, Lagos ACN Blasts PDP
The Lagos State chapter of the Action Congress of Nigeria has blasted the PDP for wasting Nigeria’s fourteen years and dragging Nigeria to pre-historic era with their politics of despoliation and impunity. The party says that rather than beating its chest in self adulation, the PDP should be remorseful and apologize to Nigerians from leading an oil rich nation to the very nadir of want and penury which is akin to war torn Somalia.
In a release in Lagos, signed by the Lagos State Publicity Secretary of the ACN, the party said that the fourteen years of PDP misrule has been a curse to Nigeria and that Nigerians have cause to regret ever being saddled with the excess burden which the PDP has proved to be. It advises the party to warm up to the harsh verdict of history which will record the PDP period as a period of unmitigated plundering and wholesale looting that shrank life in the sixth largest oil producer in the world to the very depth of want.
We are not surprised that in its tradition to play pranks with the intelligence of Nigerians, the PDP is loudly celebrating fourteen years of its ruinous reign in Nigeria with mischievous pomp. We are not surprised that the PDP is adding to the mounting Nigerian woes and sense of hurt by celebrating what Nigerians see as their darkest period where the promises of prosperous nation was dashed with state-licensed public stealing and a grandiose elevation of corruption, election rigging and other forms of impunity to directive principles of state policy. But the question is: what are Nigerians celebrating the PDP for in these past fourteen awful years? For a party that cares about its image, it would have been apt for the PDP to find out who and who is celebrating with it at this very stretch in Nigerian history. It would have been good if PDP feels the pulse of Nigerians on its present celebration of ruination and plunder. It would have found out if the last fourteen years have left Nigerians better than before its unfortunate advent fourteen years ago.
We wonder what PDP is thumping its chest about. Is it the chain of unresolved political assassinations that assumed a frightening frenzy in the last fourteen years? Is it the acute poverty level that has risen to over eighty per cent in a period Nigeria harvested trillions of Naira from oil proceeds? Is it the widespread cases of armed robbery, which the government has accepted as a way of life in PDP’s Nigeria? is it the worsening incidences of kidnapping, which has its root in the buccanneerist politics of the PDP and which has become intractable today?
Is it the worrying take over of the country by sundry armed gangs, killers of all sorts, suicide bombers who have brought Nigeria to the level of strife torn Somalia, as an eminent founder of PDP confessed recently? Is it the state of unemployment that has soared to the extent that tens of thousands of graduates apply for truck drivers post as shown in the Dangote drivers’ recruitment exercise going on at present? Is it in the total breakdown of infrastructures in every sector to the extent that the country has become decay that has made the country a morgue of decayed and obsolete infrastructures? Is it on corruption, which the PDP celebrates as a virtue and has elevated to such height that nothing works in Nigeria again? Is it in election rigging, which sustains the false strength of the PDP and which it had sworn never to depart from? Is it in the unending series of judicial manipulations and all manners of sly acts with which the PDP has defaced our constitution to make it amenable to its wiles and chicanery? Is it on the array of anti-people polices and governmental extortions that have driven Nigerians to the very edges of their existence while leaders of the PDP smile to the bank with stolen loot each passing day? Are Nigerians celebrating that PDP has turned Nigeria into a borderless land of unending misery, ethnic war fare, insecurity and torture?
We can go on and go to catalogue the negative benefits for which the PDP is celebrating and throwing its usual self-adulatory party at a time Nigeria is reeling with acute poverty, disease and want but the lesson is not lost on Nigerians that those who have salted the national treasury these past fourteen harrowing years are leading this celebration. These are facts well known and felt by Nigerians even with the antics of the fraudsters who change facts to fit their useless arguments instead of changing their useless arguments to fit facts. These are the people celebrating Nigeria’s gargantuan ruination in the fourteen years of PDP’s unfortunate existence and they are the people who have ingrained the dubious policy of dividing the nation today so as to continue welding irresponsible power. Nigerians know that PDP’s self praise and chest thumping at a time Nigeria stands hobbled by woeful government, internecine corruption, wanton impunity and megalomania is distasteful and very spiteful of their feelings. Nigerians who are now feeling the rough pangs of PDP’s mismanagement of riches these past fourteen years know that those who have robbed and stolen the country blind will always celebrate their loot but to employ this to insult weary and long suffering Nigerians is the height of dehumanization in the hands of a roguish party that has come to typify all that is wrong with the Nigerian polity.
We know that PDP is founded on coveting irresponsible power, often wrought from nauseous electoral fraud but we believe the party should show some sympathy for Nigerians who are victims of its disastrous power mongering these past fourteen years. We want to tell PDP, even as it avoids the issue, that it is the single greatest threat to democracy in the past fourteen years, given its undemocratic and sly practices. It is the single greatest obstacle to Nigeria’s quest for progress. PDP is the bulwark standing behind Nigeria and unity. It is the very greatest obstacle Nigerians face today in every sphere of life and we want them to know that Nigeria has grown weary and tired of its unproductive, corrupt governance and will certainly offload the PDP in 2015.
